FEELINGS ABATED
CONDITIONS IN THE SAAR BRITISH TROOPS ARRIVE (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Dec. 19, 10 a.m.) SAARBRUOKEN, Dec. 19. The feelings of the 'Saarlanders have now abated, and they are more cheerfully awaiting the influx of the British troops, of whom 40 have already arrived in order to prepare the canteen.
Two contingents of British troops, comprising nearly 400 officers and men, were welcomed on the quayside at Calais by a company of French soldiers and enthusiastic crowds, recalling the war arrivals in 1914. Major Hennessy, a member of Mr Kn'ox’s personal staff, is replacing Major Ilem'slcy as chief of the Saar police, Major Ilcmsley declares that his resignation was not requested.
