GIFT TO HOSPITALS
GENEROUS AUSTRALIAN £3OO TO BE DISTRIBUTED . A (Per Press Association.) L DUNEDIN, this day. A particularly generous gift to hospitals in Otago and Southland has been made by Mr. John Edmond, of Melbourne, who has forwarded to Messrs. Duncan and MacGregor the sum of £3OO, to be distributed among 12 hospitals.
This money tlie donor desires should lie used for the purpose of purchasing or going towards the purchase of some article which .will lie the (means of "alleviating pain and helping suffering humanity.'
The 12 hospitals which will particijippto .in distribution of the money, £25 each, are as follows: South Otago Hospital, Balclutha; Ranfurly Hospital, Ranfurly; Vincent Hospital, Clyde; Cromwell Hospital, Cromwell; Erankton Hospital, Queenstown; Tunpeka Hospital, Lawrence; Tapanui Hospital, Tapanui; Wallace Fiord Hospital, Riverton; Seddon Memorial Hospital, Gore; Port Chalmers Cottage Hospital, Port Chalmers; Hvaitangata, Hospital, Kaitangata; and Middlemarch Hospital, Middlemarch.
In addition to this gift of £3OO, Mr. Eldmond has sent forward', in accordance with, the practice which he has observed for a number of years, an amount which is to be distributed ,between the patients and staffs respectively of the St. Helen’s and Batchelor hospitals as a special Christmas present.
Mr. Eldmond was formerly a wellknown commercial traveller in Otago and Southland on behalf of the firm of Messrs. John Edmond, Limited.
