“All the tenders were let satisfactorily,” remarked Cr. Charles Matthews, chairman of the Cook County Council, at to-day’s when discussing the main county loading programme, for the preseht season. He added that some of the jobs had been commenced. The engineer, Mr. K. F. Jones, said that the large amount of work going on in the district had tended to -harden prices somewhat. Asked if the traffic on. Gentle Annie Hill would be held up during the work there, the engineer said he had been careful to include in the specifications that the contractor must give facilities for traffic to pass at all times. The job should he completed within three months.
