MAIN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC
INSPECTOR’S REPORT The report) of the main highways traffic inspector, Mr. W. H. Scott, to the Cook County Council to-day stated “No. 1 section. —I have made four trips over this district. I aln paying very careful attention, to the matter <V. overloading and speeding oh this! highway. “No 2 section.—One trip was made to Mofcu, three trips to Te Karaka, and two additional trips to Whatatutu. “No 3 section.—l visited this district between Gisborne and Hicks Bay, making a general inspection of all motor lorries using this highway. Two motor lorries were detected without heavy traffic licenses. “Heavy traffic.—During the past month all the highways in this district have been carrying a large volume of heavy traffic, wool carting and lamb carting having reached their peak. “Restricting use of motor vehicles on specified bridges.—On Monday, December 3, the Uawa County Council brought into force ft restricted load of eight tons gross over the various bridges in its bounty. This restriction is to rover all motor vehicles and six-wheeled vehicles.
“Licenses issued.—Heavy traffic, 60; drivers’. licenses, 11 renewals, 27 now applications, 10 previously issued by other local bodies, 1 in place of lost license, and 3 on behalf of Wnikohu Comity Council, a total of 52. “Mileage travelled.—November 19 to December 17, 1506 miles; benzine used, 72 gallons.’’
