POWER AND ’PHONE LINES ASSURANCES GIVEN Assurances that roadside trees were not, cut down unless necessary were given by tho Post and Telegraph Department and the Poverty Bay Power Board in letters read at to-day’s meeting of the Cook County Council. Only trees which constitute a positive menace to the safety of the reticulation are dealt, with, and in all cases every effort is made to restrict the work to a minimum. The board recognises the ornamental value and the utility of trees in a district such as this, and wishes to assure you that, as in the past, every endeavor will be made to limit tree-cutting activities to work of an essential nature.
