THE MISSING AIRMEN ACTION BY MRS. ULM (Received December 18, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec, 17. According to the Sun newspaper, Mrs Charles Ulm has chartered the motor schooner Lanakai to search' for her husband juid his companions among the islands, reefs and coral atolls from Kauai to Midway Island, 1200 miles north-east of Honolulu. The negotiations have been completed with the British Consul at Honolulu, and with the full approval of the naval authorities, who agree that Mrs Ulm's idea is both practicable and sensible.

A.fter the Prime Minister, Air. J. A. Lyons, was informed of the arrangements made by Airs Ulm for chartering the Lanakai, it was announced that the United States Government-, upon the suggestion of. the Commonwealth Government would despatch the coastguard cutter Itasca t,o search Johnston Island, which is outside the areas in which fishing sampans operate.

VESSEL BEING FITTED LONG SEARCH PLANNED (Received Dec. 18, noon.) HONOLULU, Dec. 17. The schooner Lanakai, chartered for Airs. Ulm, is being fitted out to continue the search, and will be leaving in two or three days with a crew of 10. The British consul, Air. William Turner, to-day obtained permission from the Governor and the navy tor the schooner to visit islands, shoals, and reefs to the westward. Mr. Northrup Castle, the owner and master of the schooner, said he would be gone for three weeks to a month.. The Itasca sailed at 6 a.m. yesterday, on route for Johnston Island, 720 miles to the south-west-.
