KING PLEASED
PRESS OF AUSTRALIA At an informal function on the Royal train in Queensland, the Duke’s chief of staff, Major-General Howard Vyse, thanked journalists and press photographers for the publicity they had given the tour since it began at Perth on October 4. “We have been very pleased with the kindly press reports,” he said. “The King has also been pleased with the way the Australian press has received the Duke. I have received a letter from the King’s Private Secretary, in which this statement is made on behalf of His Majesty.”
