The 'children (gracefully. performed folk dances. The adults’ part consisted of three items. The first was a ton ballet by young women ami youn men, the second was a ballet by U l ”’ and Miss P. McNaught prettily performed a 'Chinese dance. After 10 o’clock the children wer dismissed and the floor waa clrareator danciim. SCHOOL CONCERTS The Horoera Native School gave its t! muni concert on December U, when ■ the children went, through a moderate programme. Opportunity was taken by residents' to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Nopin, who are leaving for Harnto, Hawke’s Bay'. ■file Tokafa Native School held its annual concert in the To Araroa Halt when a long and interesting programme whs submitted to an appreciative house. The programme was as follows:—Opening chorus, by company; humorous sketch, by Kora fanliore and Edward Reid; gymnastic display, by boys; recitation, “Getting Up,” Edward Reid, “The Land ol Nursery Rhyme,” a 20-minute item in costume, by primers; song, “0 Who Will O’er the Downs so Free,” by senior pupils; recitation, “Porridge,” Kora Tn till ore; action song. “The Chinaman;” rod drill, senior girls; “The Singaphone, ” a humorous sketch in which Keith Mullooly acted as professor; action song, senior boys; recitation, “The End,” Beverly .Toll: dialogue, “Uncle Moses Counting the Eggs;” “The Monk,” an amusing item, Keith Mullooly, Johnny railbore, George Brooking, and Johnny Henderson; ‘sketch, “The King’s Rhyme,” accompanied with a country dance by senior pupils; gymnastic display, boys; song, “Goodnight,” girls. The steep, precipitous face of the Whetu-matarau Hill, just above the Domain, with the white rooks showing out amongst the vegetation and with the •pohutukawas in bloom, is looking exceedingly beautiful. The clumps of manuka and Hovell’s plantation cl pretty, exotic trees and shrubs skirting the foot of the hill-face enhance the beauty of the scene.
