CRICKET MANAGEMENT

P.B. ASSOCIATION THIS WEEK’S DRAW The weekly meeting of the. management committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held last even ing. The chairman, Mr. H. K. Maude, presided, and there were present also Messrs. J. J. Macdonald, P. O. Dwyer, !,. 11. Thomson, G. N. Lockett, A. Digital! W- J. Jennings, A. R. Baker, ROonnop, and J. M. Kay, lion, secretary. Advice was received from the New Zealand Cricket Council that dates for Hawke Cup matches laid been allocated as followsTaranaki v. Manawatu, at Christmas; holders v. Poverty Bay, at New Year. The secretary’s action in telegraphing acceptance of these dates was confirmed.

In consequence of a report received from tlie ground committee, it was resolved that there should be no further primary school cricket, at tho Oval until the schools reopen. Tho ground committee reported that the ground generally was in good order, and the wickets were pi .lying well. Following a request from the majority of the clubs interested, it was resolved that the Thursday competition should bn continued as usual this week but that an adjournment of play should take place from 3.45 to 4.45 p.m. to enable players wishing to do so' to witness the arrival of Hie Duke of Gloucester, The draw for the week resulted as follows : Thursday.—Retailers v. R.S.A., Cash Stores v. Wanderers. Saturday, second grade.—Marist v. High School A. and High School. B v. Unemployed, belli matches at the High School. On beltaif ot the Umpires’ Association Mr. Baker brought forward the question of the time taken for afternoon tea by teams playing on Nos. l and 4 wickets, and it, was resolved that teams playing on these wickets should be allowed 15 minutes for tea. it was decided that a special meeting should be held at 5 p.m. on Friday to complete arrangements for the Hawke Cup challenge match.
