OIL FROM COAL
EXPERIMENTS SUCCEED USE BY NAVY AND R.A.F. (British Official Wireless.) Bee. 10 a.m. RUGBY, Dec. lb. It was stated at a general meeting of Low Temperature Carbonisation, Ljmited, that the company was successfully oroducmg aviation petrol and naval fuel oil from coal.
Nine home defence squadrons of the Royal Air Force have been running on coal petrol, which was also Used at the last air foflce pageant by 80 participating machines. Not only had fuel oil been supplied in large quantities to the navy, but it had been used by the railways and other important industrial undertakings. It was claimed that the foundations of the new industry had been firmly laid.
