(Herald Correspondent.) On Tuesday • the Te Kuraka Bowling Club held a very enjoyable flag fivehundred evening in the pavilion. Many keenly contested games were played, the winning four being Airs. I). Morris, Miss V. Bull, Messrs. J. C. Wilson and Toby. Supper was served by members’ wives. Among those present wore Air. and Mrs. .1. C. Wilson, Mr. and Airs. W. Greg, gao, Mr. and Airs. D. Morris, Air. and Mrs. A. E. Buckingham. Mr. and Mrs. B. Swainson, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lucas; Mesdames P. .1. Scflon and AL Brown; Alisses V. Bull, K. Billiatn, C. Wilson. E. Doyle, and AL .folios ; Messrs. J. Wilson, j tin,, C, Bull, W, Sutton, W. Jones, W. G. Keane, <!. Bell, sen., W. AlcGraniiaeliaii, Toby, A. Curtis, and C. Atkins. 'There was a small attendance at the monthly meeting of the Te Knrnka Women's Institute, bold in the Waikolm Hall on Thursday afternoon and presided over by Mrs. JL Allan. Among the correspondence was an interesting letter from the link in Last Sussex. Arrangements were finalised for the Christmas ■party for institute members’ children to be liehl at 7 p.m. on December 18. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Greggnn for donating a dressed doll towards the Christmas tree fund. ATrs. R. Stephenson and \V. Parsons were also accorded a vote of thanks for making and icing the institute birthday cake. The roll call. ‘'The name T like best,” was well responded to, old fashioned names having a decided preference. , An interesting competition testing members’ knowledge of cooking was entered into with zest- and was won by Mrs. W. Dunsiiea. The monthly competition, a home-made Christmas gift costing not more than 2s, resulted as follows: Mrs. Rwninson, 1; Mrs. Greggnn, 2 ami 3. After ton was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Dunsiiea and Single, Urn meeting closed with the National Anthem.
“The Wuikohu Players” held their linal play reading for I lie year last Thursday evening iu the Parish Italt when “A Bird in Hand.” by John Prinkwater, was read.
