FIRE ENGINE OVERTURNS
CREW’S LUCKY ESCAPE (Per Press AssoeOit.lon.) NAPIER, this day. Overturning while completing a double turn into Munro street, the Napier Fire Board's No. 4 engine threw clear on to the bitumen surface six firemen who were being conveyed to a fire at 3.45 o’clock yesterday afternoon. ( All the men had a miraculous escape ( from serious injury. Minor injuries; only resulted, and were confined to Fireman Bruce Hawkins, who suffered a cut on the chin, and Foreman W. Ennor, a cut on the wrist. The four ; others escaped with nothing more serious than a bruising. None of the firemen was able to account for the accident, except that the machine developed a skid while completing the turn. The machine, was damaged to some extent. The irony of the accident is that . the fire was extinguished with a gar-; den hose before the reserve engine 1 arrived. i
