.To-day's North Island Report. Blue skies were reported throughout the North Island this morning. Bight variable breezes were general. The barqineter had continued to rise slowly. Temperatures at, 9 o’clock were: Auckland and Gisborne 70 degrees, Tanranga 76, Opotiki 72, East Cape 66, Napier 68, and Wellington 67. Moderate or smooth seas were reported everywhere.

Last Night’s Forecast The recent depression is moving away eastward, and a moderate anticyclone is advancing from the Tasman Sea on to New Zealand. Winds south-west to southerly, moderate to strong, but dcqrsgping, veering to north-west to-mor-, row in the far south. Seas moderate south of Farewell Spit and north of East Cape, elsewhere rather rough, but moderating. In the- eastern Tasman Sea moderate to fresh winds, south-easterlies prevailing in the northern portion, elsewhere south-westerlies, but veering to north-west later in the southern portion. Weather for the most part fine, hut a few isolated local showers probable. Temperatures moderate, hut rising again to-morrow.

Midday Forecast General inference. —An anticyclone extends across the north Tasman Sea on to New Zealand. Pressure is falling over the southern Tasman. Forecast.—Light to moderate southerly winds, later becoming variable. Weather fine arid warmer. Seas smooth to moderate.
