MOTORISTS’ ESCAPE
SHEER DROP OF 50FT. CRASH ON TO HOUSE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A miraculous escape from serious injury was experienced by two occupants of a motor cur which left the road on Mt. Victoria, Wellington, yesterday, and plunged over an almost sheer drop before coming to rest upside down on thei roof of a house 50ft. below the road. The occupants t ivere Mr. W. F. Bailhe and Mr. J. Blank, both bank cleiks. Mr. Baillie was taken to hospital suffering from head injuries. Mr. Plank received bruises and slight concussion.
Mr. Jack Plank has many friends in Gisborne who will regret to learn of his misfortune. He is a son of Mr. LPlank, formerly first assistant master at the Gisborne Central School, whence he was transferred to Raetihi as headmaster. Mr. J. Plank was educated in Gisborne, and in February, 1925, ha joined the Bank of New Zealand, and was transferred in 1927, being stationed to Wellington after a brief period of relieving duty in other towns. He is now a member of the Wellington South branch of the bank. Mr. Plank took] a prominent part in many branches ol) sport in Gisborne, being a skilful boxer, and a valuable member of the Old Boys’ senior Rugby team.
