GATHERING AT NUHAKA
GREETINGS FOR DUKE (Herald Correspondent.) Final arrangements have been made for Ihe assembly of the public of the Nuliaka district during the brief halt to be made a r Ts'uhakn, settlement by His Roy<il Highness I lie Duke of Gloucester on Thursday next. The Education Department has advised that pupils of the public and native schools at Nuliaka, and of the schools of Kopuawhara, Alaliia ami Opoutama, will assemble at 12.30 p.m., at Steed’s corner, Nuliaka, under the supervision of the respective head teachers. On the approach of His Royal Highness the gathering of children and adults will sing the National Anthem, and the proceedings thereafter will be similar to those elsewhere, in yases where the Duke’s parly makes an unscheduled stop. A sports programme of approximately two hours’ duration will be conducted for children on Thursday morning in the grounds of the Nuliaka school, by permission of the headmaster, and Ibis should help to sustain interest in the public gathering which will follow, in honor of the Duke. After (lie royal entourage has passed on, the schoolchildren gathered in Nuliaka will lie the guests of Air. R. 'Steed, juii., at a picture entertainment, in the Nuliaka Theatre.
A feature of the gathering will be a parade of returned soldiers, and it is expected that the muster will represent I hr- full quota of ex-service men resident in tiie district. ATedals or ribbons will be worn by those entitled to such decorations.
