Auckland.—Dec. 14 : Arrived, Mataroa, 6.35 a.m., from Wellington; Waipiata, 6.55 a.m., from Portland; Kartigi, 6.40 a.m., from Wellington. Discussing to-day’s lire, the superintendent of the brigade, Mr. J. W. Kane, said that since the installation of the timing system, the longest time the brigade had taken (o leave the station was 103 sec., and the shortest time 18scc. lie thought that 75sec. would be a generous estimate of the average time the engine took to get away. The brigade left the station within 74sec. of receiving this morning’s call.
