TO-MORROW: RONALD COLMAN IN “BULLDOG DRUMMOND STRIKES BACK' ’
Ruth Chgtterton's delightful film “Female” will be linally screened tonight. Commencing to-morrow at. the 10.30 a.in. session will lie Ronald Column's long-awaited successor to his earlier talkie, “Bulldog Drummond,” under the title of “Bulldog Drummond Strikes Back.” Giving the lie direct to the minor that Column had deserted the screen after his extremely popular film with FJissa Landi, “The Masquerader,” “Bulldog Drummond Strikes Back” is a gay melodrama built round the story of that delightful amateur detective, Captain Hugh Drummond. The author, Mr. H. C. McNeile, better known as “Sapper,” terms the book from which the picture was adapted the most exciting adventure of the series. An apology for murder, a toast to danger sweet wine of excitement to a bridegroom at large, a honeymoon disrupted to keep Drummond’s cup of adventure, running over, give an inkling of the thrills and comedy when “Bulldog Dru ip nion d Strikes Back.” Loretta Young portrays tile girl, Warner Gland plays the prince, Charles Butter worth is seen as Drummond’s ‘‘not, quite so bright” friend A.lgy, and Una Merkel appears as the bride Algy deserts on her wedding night to dabble in mystery with Drummond. 0. Aubrey Smith plays Inspector Neilson, of Scotland Yard. Among (he short subjects on the programme will be Walt-Disney’s latest Mickey Mouse, “Gulliver Mickey,” and a beautiful organlogue, “Yesterday.” The plans arc filling up.
To-morrow night will see the final dance in a series of highly popular Saturday night engagements conducted throughout t!7e past season in the Oddfellow’s Hall, Mangapapa. Further details are advertised.
