HASTINGS STOCK SALE

SHEEP VALUES EASIER Both store and fat sheep were easier at the Hastings stock sale on Wednesday. In the store sheep section, values declined for wethers and fattening lines of stock. Breeding sKc.ep were much on a par w.ith late rates, while rape lambs, which made their first appearance of the season in the yards, opened up well, all the lines offering meeting the market. Wednesday's entry was the largest for some weeks, and included about 1300 lambs. The quality of the entry ivas, however, poorer than of late, good lines of sheep being relatively few. Wethers were in fair demand at lower rates, and some, lines of those sheep were passed in. Young ewes again sold well, one pen of shorn twotooths making a very satisfactory figure. Values ranged as follows: — Wethers, to 19s 4d; lambs, to 14s 10d; two-tooth owes, to 22s 7d; fattening ewes, to 12s lOd 1 . , A short entry of fat sheep sold at rates which were easier to some extent on owes, while wethers and lambs made late rates. Ewes sold to 16s, wethers to 23s 9d, lambs to 225, hoggets to 235.
