Two of three days ago while Hie Government. valuer, Mr. H. I\ Hamilton, was engaged on the East Coast a number ‘of articles were stolen from his ear during liis temporary absence. Inquiries made by Constable Ryan, of Ruatoria, led to the arrest of a Maori, Tipi Waiknrc, of Hiniharama, who Was brought before Messrs I. S. C. Dalgairns and R. 11. Wickstced, .T.l’s., on a charge of theft, and was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment.
