MEAT REGULATION
AUSTRALIA'S PROPOSAL? LONDON, Nov. 13. The. attack made by I lie, l’remier ot Queensland. Mr. Kurgan Smith, upon the Dominions Secretary, Mr .1. 11. Thomas, has greatly displeased British Government circles. It is eliiimed that the. idea of suspension of meat exports was Australia’s own. The outburst, is considered as being due to Mr. Forgnn Smith discovering Die baselessness of iiis statement in England 1 that, lie had “succeeded in getting the ' British Government to abandon restriction of Australian, meat exports.’’ I The Minister of Agriculture, MrElliol, i. told the Sun : “The proposal for two months’ suspension of beef and pork i shipments emanated from the Australian I Government. Our proposals for regulal tion, only, wore submitted much earlier.” : The British representatives still believe • that the two months’ suspension will operate.
