CRICKET MANAGEMENT

P.B. ASSOCIATION SELECTOR APPOINTED FORTHCOMING MATCHES The weekly meeting of the management committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held last, evening, Mr. A. R. Baker presidinMin the absence of the chairman, Mr/*H. E. Maude. There were present also Messrs, f,. Thomson, G. N. Lockett, A. C. Woodfield, A. Bignall, J. Jennings, J ; J. Macdonald, R. Connop, and J. M. Kay, hon. secretary. It was resolved that a sole selector should be appointed for the 1934-35 season, and Mr. G. N. Lockett was chosen to fill that position. Advice was received from the Auckland Cricket Association that the usual Town v. Country match would be played at Eden Park on December 14 and 15, and tho Poverty Bay association was asked to nominate players for inclusion in tho Country team. The selector was requested to keep this matter in view. The Auckland association also wrote stating that the annual Country Week would be held as usual at Christmas, but that on this occasion each team would have to find £2 10s for wicket fees for the week.

The Waiapu Cricket. Association wrote suggesting November 25 and 26 as suitable dates for the Hawke Cup elimination match at Waipiro Bay. These dates were approved. An application was received from the Poverty Bay Primary Schools Sports Association for the use of three wickets each Friday evening for school matches. It was resolved to notify the association that it would he impossible to grant the use of wickets on any other evening but Tuesday. It was decided that replacements should be allowed on the second day of anv match this season. The draw for the week resulted as follows: —

Thursday.—Cash Stores v. R.S.A., Retailers v. Wanderers. The use of a wicket on Thursday was granted also for the annual Wholesalers v. Retailers softgoods match. Saturday.—Second grade : Marist v. High School A. and Unemployed v. High School B. both matches at tho High School. Third grade; Marist v. High School A, at the High School; High School B, a bye, * The ground committee reported that the ground was in good order, and, in view of the weather conditions that had ore vailed, the wickets had played well last Saturday.
