Entries for the Meat Board's export lamb competition close with the secretary of the A. and P. Association on Thursday, November 8.

The Gisborne High School Board desires to re-open the girls’ hostel as soon as circumstances warrant. The question of re-opening for next year will .be considered at the end of this month, by which date notice of prospective boarders boys and girls—should be given.

An advertisement in this issue extends an invitation to the representatives of the various local organisations to attend a meeting in the Borough Council chambers to arrange suitable evening functions on the occasion of the visit to Gisborne of the Duke of Gloucester. A large and representative attendance is requested. For residents of Poverty Bay who desire to ensure that their friends in the United Kingdom have an opportunity to taste the best of New Zealand dairy produce. the Ivai Ora Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, has arranged to forward 41b, packages of finest quality Kia Ora butter to addresses at Home, during the Christmas and NeW Near season. Those interested in the proposal are incited to communicate with the secretary of the company, Mr. J. H. Sunderland.

The Bose Show, which will be held under ihc auspices of the Poverty Bay Horticultural Society pn Saturday, promises to lie one of the most successful flower shows held in GishPrne. There has been a tcudeney in recent pears for this show to be regarded as an important social event,, arid there are indications that 1034 will not prove an exception. The committee, in anticipation of a record attendance, lias completed arrangements for the serving of a dainty afternoon ten. It is expected that the special displays of flowers arranged by both individuals and the Women’s Institutes will surpass any previously staged in ■Povorlv Bav.
