On Saturday n social evening was held in tho J. ; i4ia Hail in honor oi the marriage of a papular young lady, Airs. J. I). Burnet I. , 4 veyy jolly time was spent, in dancing ami cards, the Banco music being played by Miss N. Coates and Mr. K. Mclvay. ' Enjoyable extras' were played by Mi's. C. Allans and Miss M. Kit nay.
During an interval Mr. <l. R>. Se’ftott spoko of tho lugn esteem iu which Mrs. Burnetii was held in the district, and asked hoi- to accept on behalf of the Puha Basketball and Tennis Clubs and .tbo residents of the district, a handsome firesidn chair as a token of their best v, - is lies for her future happiness. All present, joined iu singing ‘‘For She's a Jolly flood Fellow." Mr. Burnett, on behalf of his. wife, briefly replied. A dainty supper was served, the tables being artistically decorated with crystal and silver vases of Iceland poppies. Dancing continued till midnight, when tho singing of “Auld Lang Syne”! brought a happy evening to a close. Among those present, were, Mr. and Mrs. ,1. D. Burnett. Mr. ami Mrs. J. Graham.
