THE SAAR PLEBISCITE

HITLER’S PREPARATIONS

TRAINED TERRORISTS

LONDON, Nov. 3.

Dr. Braun, leader of the Social Democrat Party in the Saar, who is at present in London, inerviewed by the News-Chronicle,-asserted that Herr Hitler had introduced £0,C0() trained terrorists into the Saar.

; “If Herr Hitler decides that lie is losing, or will gain only a small majority in the plebiscite,” he said, “ho will carry out a putsch before the ballot has actually decided the fate of the territory.” Dr. Braun added that if. Herr Hitler wins', lie will wreak horrible vengeance hi the nou-Nazi voters. Upwards of 2.2,0C0 would be forced to leave the Saar, and 6000 Jews would he wiped out. Dr. Braun predicted a 40 per cent, vote for Herr Hitler and a 53 per cent vote for the status quo.

The,world committee for aiding the victims of Nazi Fascists, under the guidance of Lord Mariey, lias made a report on terrorism In the Saar which will be forwarded to the League of Nations. The following findings were made by the committee:—

(1) That acts of terrorism and violence on a large scale exist in the Saar, together with open or secret pressure on anti-Hitler Saarlanders.

(21 That the conviction exists that the Saar plebiscite when it is taken will be neither secret nor free.

(3) That it is widely held that in the event of a vote for the status quo another plebiscite should be hold, presumably on the question of modifications of (lie present constitution.
