THE WEATHER
To-day’s North Island Report. Blue skies were reported south of Napier this morning, but overcast and unsettled conditions prevailed further north in the. North island. Light to moderate southerly breezes were general. The barometer showed little movement. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were: Auckland and Opotiki 61 degrees, Tauranga 63, Gisborne 53, Napier 58. and Wellington 56. Rough seas were reported at Tauranga; elsewhere moderate or smooth.
Last Night’s Forecast Though there; is a. slight depression over the north Tasman Sea, barometers are rather high generally from Australia to beyond New Zealand. Winds, light to fresh south to south-east. Seas in New Zealand waters, smooth to moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea’ light to fresh south to south-east winds and moderate seas. Weather, some scattered showers in the north-east and north of the North Island; otherwise fair to lino; temper attires still cool, with light frosts inland and in the South Island,
Midday Forecast General inference.—JJjjessurc is high generally over the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, but. a slight depression is passing the northern extremity of tho Dominion. Forecast.—Light to moderate south to south-east winds. Weather cloudy north of Hawke’s Bay, with some scattered rains, but gradually improving, and elsewhere fine. Temperatures cool. Sens stnooth to moderate.
