KIA ORA DAIRY COMPANY
UP-COUNTRY SUPPLIERS MEETING AT MATAWAI (Herald Correspondent.) The annual mooting of up-country suppliers to the Kin Ora Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, was held in the Matawai Hall on Thursday, when there was a good attendance of Matawai, Motu, Motuhora, Homebrook and Rakauroa farmers. Mr. G. R. Moore, chairman of directors; was in the chair, and in addition to the six directors there were also present Mr. 0. Purvis, dairy instructor and grader, Mr. C. McKenzie, farm dairy instructor, Mr. J. 11. Sunderland, secretary, and Mr. W. A. Evans, factory manager.
In his address, Mr. Moore reviewed the year’s successful working of the company, the lower costs of production and the benefit the company had received from the higher exchange, which provided tin additional £23,000. Mr. Purvis gave an instructive address on cream-grading, and took the opportunity of congratulating the suppliers on the higher quality of cream produced in the past three years. lie also congratulated the manager and staff on the improvement in the grading of butter produced each year covering the same period. Mr. Purvis emphasised the necessity of taking extreme care with the cream, and at the conclusion of his address encouraged questions from the audience, which were satisfactorily answered. He said that some of the dairymen from this district had succeeded in sending only finest cream, and there was no reason why all of the suppliers could not do the same on a daily delivery.
