Princesses’ Lessons

HANGING arid music lessons are living held again in two important London houses.

One is 14b, Piccadilly, where the Duchess of York allows a sitting-room to lie turned into a classroom once a week for a large party of children, including her two daughters, to loa n dancing.

The other is the house of Lady Cavan, who as Lady .loan Mulholland was lady-in-waiting to the Duchess of York. Music classes are held here every day. During the autumn term Princess Elizabeth is again attending these half-hour morning classes three days a week, Prim-csss Margaret, going on alternate days for the baby classes, which she shares with Lady .loann Lumbar!, the b-year-old' daughter of Lady Cavan. Princess Elizabeth is studying music witjr another Elizabeth, the elder daughter of Lady Cavan, who was called after the bin-lies of York. The little Princesses are being taught to play and sing by modern methods, for the Duche.ss is extremely anxious that they should be aide to compete in educational matters with girls of their own age. Princess Margaret, thanks to her gift for music, has already learnt a. number of nursery rhymes, which they sing when dancing. The Tuesday afternoon dancing class will be larger than ever; it started last year with half a dozen children, in addition lo the Princesses, and is now so large that the teacher requires two assistants. The little Princess is very proud of her dancing frock. When she sits in the intervals, she always throws up the tiny skirt for fear of creasing it.
