USE FOR SNAKE VENOM
PREVENTION OF BLEEDING ENGLISH DISCOVERY LONDON, Nov. 1. Important results have been achieved by Dr. MacFarlane, pathologist; at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, and Dr. Barnett, curator of the reptile house at the London Zoo, in the use of snake venom to stop bleeding. An Indian snake known as Russel's viper, yielded the most striking results. Its venom, diluted to one part an 100,000, caused blood coagulation in one minute. The \ emon has been used effectively with haemophilia patients after dental extractions, and also in general surgery.
