TOKOMARU BAY NEWS
(Horaid Correspondent.) Last Thursday a most enjoyable kitchen afternoon was given in honor of a recent bride, Mrs. Ray Oates (nee Miss E. Nicholls). The hostesses were Mesdames Grant, Angus and J. MacDonald, the party being held at the residence of Mrs. Grant. Bright spring flowers (domed the drawing-room, where the time passed pleasantly. Mrs. J. Todd and Mrs. J, MacDonald delighted an with their singing of some favorite old melodies. An interesting word competition followed, Mrs. M. Oates scoring the greatest number of words and so annexing the .pretty little prize. A dainty afternoon tea was served. The guest of honor, assisted by her brides hiaid, Miss Ehid Oates, opened the numerous parcels Mrs. Oates thanked all the guests, in a charming speech, for their kindness and also for the hospf taiity they had always extended to her. Mrs. E. Morrison has returned after a holiday spent, in Wellington.—Bishop Liston, Auckland, was the guest of Father Bennett for a few days last week. —Misses M. Hill and N. Trafford wero week-end visitors to Gisborne.
