NURSES’ ASSOCIATION

FAREWELL AT RUATORIA , (Herald Correspondent.) Mrs. J. D. Fenn, Ruatoria, and Mrs. John McDonald, Tokomaru Bay, were farewelled, by fellow-nurses at Ruatoria last Wednesday. Mrs. P. Burton kindly gave the use of the commercial room of the hotel, which was gay with bowls of many-colored Iceland poppies. Two wee mites, Betty Burton and Jobh Fenn, presented the guests of honor with ' delightful bouquets. Mrs. McDonald thanked the members of the Trained Nurses’ Association, feeling sorry she had to sever her connection with the East Coast branch, so newlyformed. Mrs. Fenn also suitably responded in a happy little speech. A competition caused much merriment and was won by Mrs. John McDonald. Miss Kohn, vice-president of the Wellington Nurses’ Council, was present and delighted to rmiew old friendships, dating from training days in Wellington Hospital. While partaking of afternoon tea many humorous anecdotes were related of hospital experiences. Mrs. G. W. Eivers, the president, wished their departing’ members and their families every success and happiness. As the East Coast association only numbered 25, they could ill-afford to spare two of their members. However, as Mrs. Fenn was going to Wellington and Mrs. McDonald to Gisborne, the secretary, Mrs. Joblin, would have their names transferred, thus hoping to keep in touch with them through the Nurses’ Association.

Apologies were received from absent members. A vote of thanks to Mrs. Burton for many courtesies shown to the Trained Nurses’ Association* brought a very happy afternoon to a close. The next meeting of the association will be held at Mrs. Dalgairns’ residence, Ruatoria, on the occasion of the visit of Miss Lambie, director of nursing, Wellington.
