AUCKLAND, last- night Fine weather prevailed for the opening of the Auckland Racing Club’s spring meeting at Ellcrslie on Saturday, which attracted a large.attendance. ’life track was in good order and some keen, racing waa witnessed. Won by a neck, and half a length. Time, 3.10. . Great. Northern Guineas.—l Gay Blonde (Tinker), l; 7 Narnakia (Broughton), 2; 3 Sporting Blood (Green), 3. Also ran: 4 Pin Money, 9 Day Wind, 8 Lady Kyra, 5 Canopy and Burnish (bracketed), 2 Mother Superior. Gay Blonde, Burnish and Mother Superior took the lead early from Narnakia, and Sporting Blood. Along the top, Narnakia headed the field from Burnish, Sporting Blood and Gay Blonde Narnakia was still in front at the turn, but Gay Blonde came up fast to clinch the victory by half a length, with Sporting Blood a bandy third, three-quarters of a length back. Mother Superior was fourth. Time, 1.37 3-5. which' equals Golden Wing’s record for the race established in 1931.

Horowhenua, Solarium, Baroscope and Korokio got away well and showed the wav to the rest of ,the field past the stands. Horowhenua was half a length in front of Solarium, Korokio and Baroscopo along the back, but Solarium ,took command along the, top and stayed on well to win easily from Korokio, with Red Manfred, who came up from the rear, third.
