JUMPING FATALITY

ACCIDENT AT HAITI YOUTH THROWN FROM HORSE Thrown from his horse while "practising the anim.il in jumping In preparation for the forthcoming A. and P. Show, Mr. Peter Reginald Drummond, 17, suffered serious injuries yesterday morning, and died later in a private hospital. The deceased was a capable horseman. He had had some experience in the schooling of jumpers, and was engaged in this hobby in a paddock in Tyndall road, when the accident occurred. His mount struck a hurdle in the course of a round, and fell, his rider being thrown directly on to his head. When picked up, Mr. Drummond was unconscious, and this condition continued until his death, some hours afterwards, an operation to relieve pressure upon the brain being unavailing. Mr. Drummond died at run p.m. The victim of the accident was the son of Mr. and Mrs. 11. B. Drummond, Aberdeen road, and was a highly popular lad. lie was well known in the district, and was regarded as a most promising youth. The deepest sympathy will he extended (o the parents and relatives of the deceased in respect of their bereavement. An inquest was fixed for this afternoon.
