BACHELORS PENALISED
UNPOPULAR IN ITALY MILAN, Aug. 24. 'Bachelors are. looked on with an unfriendly eve in Fascist Italy. The example of their married .friends is constantly held up to their emulation, and among the methods of persuasion used against thorn are heavy taxation and exclusion from prominent administrative posts. The latest to suffer under this last measure, are the podestns of three towns in Piedmont, who, “in accordance with the well-known guiding principles of the Fascist Government on the substitution of bachelor _ administrators” have now been deprived of their offices.
