PRICES UNCHANGED SYDNEY WOOD SALES SYDNEY, Sept. 10. At the wool sales, 8983 bales were offered, of which 7311 were sold; 1195 hales were disposed of privately. There was good competition from .Inpan and Yorkshire, and an increased demand from the Continental sections. Prices were linn and unchanged at lust week’s closing rates. THE MAIZE MARKET FAIRLY STEADY DEMAND There lias been a fairly steady demand for Gisborne maize over the past few weeks, although at present the market remains comparatively quiet at 3s per bushel for prompt shipment and 3s Id for October and November delivery. The inability of Bay of Plenty farmers to shell their maize (Ids winter lias lelt the field open for Gisborne farmers to sell on the early market, a privilege usually secured by the Bay ol Plenty. BRITISH TREASURY BILLS LONDON, Sept. 7. The total amount applied for in today’s tenders for £35,000,C0G of Treasury bills was £54,370,000. The amount allotted in bills at three months was £■32,000,000. The average rate per cent, was 12s 10.9 d, as compared with 14s 4.47 d a week ago. MOTUROA OIL WELLS The following report for five weeks has been received from Moturoa Oil Fields, Limited, New Plymouth Moturoa No. 4 well produced 6205 Imperial gallons of crude oil. Total production to date, 30.570 imp. gallons. Moturoa No. 2 well produced 11,655 Imperial ’ gallons of crude oil. Total production to date, 559,619 Imperial gallons. The price of pepper is becoming pretty “hot,” a Christchurch importer told a Sun reporter. It had advanced throughout the world during the past two months, lie said, and the effect was nowbeing felt in New Zealand.
