MEAT FOR BRITAIN
IMPORT RESTRICTIONS NO REPLY FROM HOME GOVERNMENT (Special to the Herald.) WELLINGTON, this day. The British: Government lias not yet replied to the New Zealand communication proposing modifications in the meat import restrictions. This is not unexpected, as with the'House of Commons adjourning this week the Ministers immediately. take brief holidays and therefore the negotiations may not be completed until late next week. Opinion here is that if the Home Government can be induced to exclude pork completely from the quota New Zealand’s problem is capable of a fairly satisfactory solution on the basis of the Ottawa year exports plus 5 per cent.
