ACTION DEFERRED
PERMANENT COALITION CHANGE OP POLICY (Per Preßß Association.) WELLINGTON, this clay. Action to request the leaders of the Government to convene a plenary caucus to discuss the future of the Coalition has been temporarily deferred. The first intention was to secure the signature of a maioriFy to a memorial urging the leaders to take steps to merge the Government forces into a permanent party, and, at the same time, undertake the reconstruction of the Ministry, but before the document commenced circulation it was revised and confined to. a formal request for the holding of a joint meeting of the Reform and united sections of the Coalition to “discuss important matters.” Nevertheless, it was. made clear that the object remained unaltered. Both sides of the Coalition generally signed, and it was arranged to present memorials to tho Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes and the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates lgst night, but the presentation did not take plac§, and it was intimated subsequently that the matter was in aboyance.
