SHIPPING MERGER
CUNARD AND WHITE STAR COMPANY REGISTERED (British Official Wireless.) Ree. 10 a.m. RUGBY', May 14. The new company under which the North Atlantic fleets of the Cunard and White Star lines are merged, was, according to Jordan’s list, registered on Thursday. Its title is Cunard White Star, Landed, and the address Cunard Building, Liverpool. The nominal capital is £10,000,000 in £1 shares, of which 62 per cent, is to go to the Cunard Company and 33 per cent, to the White Star. The object of the Company is to acquire ail, or any, of the interests in the north Atlantic shipping trade formerly belonging to the Cunard company and the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company. A general outline was given in the House of Commons last February of the scheme by which it lias been possible to reach an agreement with the Treasury, under which, subject to certain arrangements, the Government would make advances to provide for the completion of the Cunard liner No. 534.
