EVIDENCE IN PRIVATE (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The Royal Commission set up to inquire into* the promotion and operation of certain classes of companies, and the operation of the law. governing Btoek Exchanges, commenced the taking of evidence in private in Auckland yesterday. Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M., stated that various companies had offered to assist the commission by tendering evidence in regard to their own history and accounts. This was being heard in private. It was possible that other evidence not regarded as confidential would be available later.
