ANTHRAX CONTRACTED
CAUSED BY SCRATCH. ILLNESS OF WORKER ?; (Received May 3, 12 noon.) SYDNEY, May, 3. About 14 days ago, while handling wool at Botany scouring works, Walter Cooper, 24, scratched his left arm. A small eruption appeared, and-some hours later he became ill and slightly delirious, The eruption had become an ulcer.
Cooper had contracted anthrax, and he is now is hospital, recovering after injections of anti-anthrax serum. The Minister of Health, Mr. Weaver, is having regulations framed to*lessen the dangers to workers among articles which may cause anthrax.
