MAY DAY INCIDENT 2000 POLICE ENGAGED (Elnc. To). Copyright—United Press Assn.) PARIS, May 2. During the May Day parade 2000 police, reinforced by mobile, guards, isolated a large block of houses in the working class district, whence stones were thrown and shots fired. One officer was wounded.

Preparations were made at 1.30 in the morning to storm the building. The police fixed searchlights and a squad of sttoel helmets was ready. The officer in charge was awaiting the authority of the Minister for the Interior to begin the assault. The trouble started when a sniper from the top of a building fired on a parade of 10.000 Communist workmen, some of whom returned the fire, whereupon troops dispersed the mon with machine guns and gas bombs. No one is known to have been killed, bnl many were injured.
