French Guiana It ,is alleged that Stavisky planned to release Devil’s Island convicts, ..constituting them as a- force called "Stavisky ’s Own” to expel the garrison of 600 troops. He sought- the .support of Galirioif because- the latter was regarded as the idol of Guiana. How a former accomplice, deputy ami financier, Galmot, allegedly betray-..-Stavisky because lie passionately loved Madame Stavisky, later paying for his betrayal with his life, was revealed in the dossiers handed to the, commission by the ex-commissioner of police, M. I’achot. who arrested Stavisky in 1926.
