'1 , Queciiie was a New Zealander, one of a litter cf six born When this circus was at Ngaruawahia jn St Patrick’s Day,; 1914.
Tho'animal's age was (bus 20 years and one day. and her life ended almost in tho same locality where it began. Of late, Quecnie appeared to Ji.e : fretting after her cage mate, Maud, another member of the litter of 20 years ago. Maud died in Dunedin at Christmas.
Of the litter of six, only two lionesses are now surviving, and these two were; reared away from their mother. A bulldog, obtained in Auckland was fostew mother to the two cubs, which ha\‘o remained with the circus ever siiicq,
