CUSTOMS REVENUE

INCREASE MAINTAINED FIGURES FOR FEBRUARY (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Customs revenue collected in Wellington last month maintained the improvement shown recently, February being the fifth consecutive month to show an increase on the figures for the corresponding period of last yeah The net customs revenub collected last month was £153,697, compared with £151,626 in February, 1933, an increase of £2072, For the 11 months ot the financial year which ends on March 31, the net customs revenue was £1,814,621, compared with £1,836,675 for the corresponding period of the previous year, a decrease of £22,054. Duty collected on motor spirit last month amounted to £31,999 at 6d a gallon, and £21,341 at 4d a gallon, a total of £53,340. This compares with £41,566 at 6d a gallon, £17,856 at 5d a gallon, and £6698 at 2d a gallon for February, 1933, a total of £66,119, and represents a decrease of £12,780. The amount of motor spirit duty collected apart from that at 6d a gallon is already included in the net customs revenue given above.
