THE WEATHER

To-day’s North Island Report Blue skies were reported at Wellington this morning, but overcast condition? were reported elsewhere in the North Island. Light to moderate north-east-erly breezes were general. The barometer showed little movement. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were: Auckland and Wellington 71 degrees, Tauranga and Napier 70, Opotiki 66, and Gisborne 68. Moderate cr smooth seas were reported everywhere. Last Night’s Forecast A slight secondary depression is crossing the Dominion, while the anticyclone iver the Western Tasman has decreased in extent, and is now centred in the north. Winds: Moderate northerly at first, but a temporary change to southwesterly shortly. Seas : Rather rough on tarts of the west coast, otherwise smooth to, moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate south-west to north-west jvinds, and moderate seas. Weather: Mainly fair to cloudy, some scattered •ain likely, more especially in the westrrn arid far southern districts. Moderate temperatures. Midday Forecast.

General inference.—Though barometers lave risen over the Dominion, a shallow depression is still located west of the Auckland peninsula. A. fresh depression uis reached eastern Australia.

Forecast.—Light to moderate and variable winds, with north-east to north prelominatipgi. Weather, fair to cloudy generally, but. some rain probable north of Hawke’s Bay, Seas moderate.
