JOKE ON PACIFISM
GERMAN PROCESSION MUNICH, Feb. 12. Thousands of spectators enjoyed the political note of the tableaux in the famous five-mile long carnival procession held here. The Goddess of Peace, carrying an olive branch,'was shown riding on a gigantic tank and heavily-armed soldiers of all nations escorted a German peasant, while placards asked: “Do you want to go back to Geneva?” A group of representatives of the nations which oppose the League ol Nations was followed by a pair of camels, labelled, ‘-‘Believers in the League.”
Another tableau, satirising the refugees, depicted a Parisian cafe packed with gesticulating Jews haranguing a crowd.
A “Loch Ness monster,” 75ft. long, provoked hilarity.
