AUSTRALIA WARNED
KALGOORLIE DISORDERS ITALIAN PRESS ATTACK REPARATION DEMANDED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—Unitod Press Assn.) (Received Feb. 3, 3 p.m) ROME, Feb. 2. La Tribune, protesting against the riots in Western Australia, says: “Australian trade unionism js so narrow minded that non-Australians are considered mere foreigners, instead of fellow workers. Australian nationalism is following a narrow path, meaning that an island as big as a continent is being closed to foreigners. ‘‘Mr. Collier’s declarations for the prevention of a recurrence is insufficient. Those responsible must be punished, reparations paid, and guarantees given for the future safety of foreigners, ft is incredible that while the Singapore conference is planning the defence of Australia and New Zealand, which Japan desires to conquer as an outlet for surplus population, the Dominions should give way to xenophobia, thereby offending the feelings of European settlers and Closing sight of a greater danger."
The Tribune adds : “As a reward tor herculean efforts in colonising Queensland and other parts of the continent, Italians have been forced to face the consequences of sectarian trades unionism.”
