According to tho British Chamber.of Commerce, a chaotic situation has been created by France’s 75 per cent, reduction of British imports, subjecting 134 new categories to the quota system.
Importers fear heavy losses. They instance woollen tissues ordered under long-standing contracts, special designs involving experts’ visits lo Paris.
The new list, includes machinery, rutlory, automobiles, foodstuffs, footballs, and skates. A 10 per cent, reduction of coal imports means 60,000 tons a month, losing the British trade balance of £50,000.
