MARRIED MEN'S CAMPS
MAYOR’S PROPOSAL POSTPONEMENT FOR XMAS A proposal that married men should not bo required to go into camp before Christmas lias been submitted to the Prime Minister, the lit. Hon. (.!. W. Forbes, by the Mayor, Mr. John Jackson, but it has not yet been plicated whether or not the suggestion *\vill Ire considered favorably. On Monday the Mayor forwarded the following telegram to the Prime Minister:—
'•[ respectfully suggest that you illstriut the Minister of Employment to advise the Unemployment Board to defer insisting that married men go into camp till after the Christmas holidays. In the meantime business conmnpiity have to support their families, which is ait unfair burden. Believe a magnanimous step of this nature would pacify the unemployed, and would be appreciated by the public as a generous act.” - Yesterday the Mayor received the following reply from Mr. Forbes: “Have received your telegram concerning married men. Am taking up your suggestion with the Hon. Minister t.f Employment.” The Borough Council at its meeting last evening approved the action of the Mayor in forwarding the telegram."',
