STRUCK BY LIGHTNING

MAN AND HORSE KILLED (it) SHEEP KNOCKED OUT STORMS IN VICTORIA (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Dee. 5, I I a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 5. Thomas Wilson, IS, and his horse were killed by lightning near Parkes while mustering sheep, 60 of which were knocked unconscious. An eye-witness stated that ho saw Wilson and the horse surrounded by sparks of fire. The whole scene was brilliantly lit. Wilson did not move, and then he and his lior.se sagged and toppled to the ground. The sheep rolled on their hacks and remained with their legs in. the air for about, half an hour, and tlion recovered. Another severe storm resulted in all electric suburban train services in Melbourne being stopped for half an hour. Lightning burned out 1J miles of overhead wire, stranding thousands of passengers. A woman was paralysed by lightning at East Brunswick. The power house at Northcoto and three transformers were wrecked, and lights and i telephones in the district were dislocated for two hours, and were also damaged by lightning.

A baker was badly burned when flood waters burst into a bakery and swept him off Ins feet and throw him against the oven.

Terrific hail fell in several suburbs, and tiles and windows were smashed in many homes.
