ALTERATION OPPOSED
LAW OF NEGLIGENCE UNFAIR TO MOTORISTS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The changes in the law regarding negligence, in connection with motor accidents, as recommended by the Public Petitions Committee in the report presented to the House of Representatives last month, are viewed with serious concern by the executive of the Wellington Automobile Club. The monthly meeting decided to refer the question to the North Island Motor Union with a view to its taking urgent action in opposition to any alteration in the present law, and also seeking the co-operation of the South Island union. The chairman, Mr. K. A. Raft, observed that the proposals would throw the whole liability oil the motorist, and none on the pedestrian. A motorist might he responsible for only 1 per cent, of the negligence, and yet would have to suffer the whole responsibility of proving himself not guilty.
